Kent State University Bachelor of Science: Education of the Hearing Impaired. 1979 Kent State University Master of Education: Special Education/Language Development. 1982 Ashland University: 18 hours post graduate study in Special Education completed in 2011. Currently taking 6 hours of post-graduate work concentrating on Asberger Syndrome and Learning Disabilities.

Experience

I am a retired Special Education teacher with 38 years of K-5 Special Education teaching experience including 29 years at Akron Public Schools. I currently work for a contract agency part-time, tutoring Special Education students at a Catholic school. I am most interested in tutoring for the Summer but, depending on my schedule next school year, I may be able to continue outside tutoring during the 2016/17 school year. I specialize in working with children who are AD/HD, Learning Disabled, Autism Spectrum, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Hearing Impairment. I have worked with Multiply Handicapped students. I have taught Cursive Handwriting with great success to all types of students. I specialize in teaching phonetics, comprehension, grammar, number sense, keyboarding, money and time, math facts, applied math skills. I enjoy teaching content area subjects (Science, Social Studies) and I am familiar with grade level curriculum in these subjects K-5. For children with more challenging disabilities, I concentrate on discriminated responses with communication being the primary goal. I am also very creative in helping children to learn concentration, learning behaviors, time management, organizational skills.

My brother has an antique boat he is restoring and I enjoy helping him. I own my home in Richfield. It is quite rural. My neighbors have a farm and there are about 200 acres of cornfields across the street. I spend a great deal of time in my gardens and keeping my house.
